D'Janai:

We are recording.

Kristen:

Hello? Hello everyone.

D'Janai:

Hello? Hello. Welcome back to quiet as it's kept the podcast,

Kristen:

We missed all.

D'Janai:

we sure did. I'm I'm DNA.

Kristen:

And I'm Kristin.

D'Janai:

And we're sorry, but life happens, guys. It comes at you fast. Okay. speaking of life, let's get into our sponsors this week. This week's episode is brought to you by this raggedy bitch capitalism. I hate her.

Kristen:

woo.

D'Janai:

She so fucking ugly. I hate her. I hate, I hate her. so if you want to know why, we didn't put out an episode last week. It's because of capitalism. My job is having you so fucking busy. Y'all like I'm in the hood now,

Kristen:

In the trenches

D'Janai:

I don't know what the fuck I was thinking. Trying to get a job. Be independent, have a career. Woo.

Kristen:

Oh, a real. Really? Yeah. The nine to five was, has it been speaking to DNA over these last

D'Janai:

Nine to five. How about like five? Excuse me. Eight to six, eight to seven.

Kristen:

Yeah, that's true.

D'Janai:

I mean, I, for those who don't know, I work in tech as this Kristen, and at first let's like, backtrack last year, around this time, it was like, Oh, COVID, we're going to be home for two weeks. Like, Oh girl, I'm going to watch TV with the computer on my lap. I'm going to be working from home.

Kristen:

The managers were scrambling. We're just like, you know what? Just take the rest of the week and regroup guys. Both we'll come back Monday. Everything will be fine.

D'Janai:

They swore

Kristen:

They did.

D'Janai:

fast forward to now I got a whole work from how many screens do I have a whole work from home setup desk, a computer chair. My home has become my office. I'm in the ghetto zoom all the fucking time. I can't. No escape, um, zoom back out, like I've never thought that this would be like a part of my life. Like not like this

Kristen:

right. Not in this way. Not in this way. Uh,

D'Janai:

we are, um, surviving, thriving, but at this point I want to switch careers. Okay. I'm ready to switch gears. I want to go into a different field. Um, I'm wondering. Well, yes, but something even ease, something, even easier that, um, and I feel like this is going to be a little controversial because like a lot of people don't like do this, but my ultimate career goal is to be a baby. I'd like to be an infant. If I could just do that. Um, I'm ready to be a baby for living. You know what I'm saying? Cause babies, they really do not know how good they have it. Like they really don't. They don't know anything at all. Cause like their brains are just like fucking mush, but they don't know how lucky they are because honestly, when you think about it, the baby is the boss. Like niggas move according to their time. It's I'm hungry now I do it all myself. Now. Like you need to move now.

Kristen:

Yeah. Yeah.

D'Janai:

And I feel like because of everything that we've been going through in the last 12 months, I'm aggressive. I'm trying to go back, you know, like I should be having at this at my big age. I should be having baby fever, but actually I have baby jealousy. I'm like legit. I covet,

Kristen:

I'm trying to fight some kids. Yeah

D'Janai:

I would kick some baby out of a stroller and get in there and suck my I'm only five, two, nobody would

Kristen:

Right, right.

D'Janai:

babies will be crying and carrying on. I'll be the best baby girl. I would be so quiet. I would wear whatever outfit you want me to wear. I will be so chill if somebody would just, I mean, and if you like any kind of baby sugar, baby, whatever, baby, I will be a baby for you.

Kristen:

Okay.

D'Janai:

As long as I don't need to fund my own life.

Kristen:

when I was younger, I guess I used to like. Disassociate a lot sometimes. And when I like would have

D'Janai:

Oh, no.

Kristen:

big about to happen, or like I had to do homework, I would pray and wish so hard to be like, Lord, please just turn me into a butterfly for this one day. So I don't have to do this project. You know, just like any type of animal, I'd be like a dog, a deer, anything, please. I don't want to do this. I just don't want to be Christian for this one day. So I don't have to do that. And my prayers were never answered. Um, like I really want to be on some air bud type shit. Like I just want, go okay I don't want to be here

D'Janai:

Playing soccer.

Kristen:

In the world air bud He was smart He could have written a paper for me or two

D'Janai:

Oh shit. There were a couple of things I used to wish one, I w I would wake up every year on my birthday and be like, this is the year that I've become a witch. Like I knew it.

Kristen:

could feel the powers

D'Janai:

I'm trying to unlock, unlock. No. I was like, I was like, I know it I'm a witch. I could feel it. Um, and I was like, maybe it's my eighth birthday. No, maybe it's not nine. That's a, that's a odd number. Maybe it's my 10th birthday. Like I kept thinking the even number birthdays was, I was just gonna wake up and I was going to be like floating off the bed. And I was like, that's it. And the main things I always wanted to do was just like, I just want to like snap my fingers and my room would be clean on a snap, my fingers and be someplace else. Um, But I also used to wish that I was animals too. Like when I got a little bit older and I was like, Hmm, I can't be a witch, but maybe I can be my cat because I was like, I will be leaving for school and be looking at the cat, like, girl, fuck you. Cause you get to in the house and you're too dumb to even turn on the TV. I was like, I wish I could be a cat. Okay.

Kristen:

just meandering around all day

D'Janai:

Napping all day, the food is already out nobody's home. So I could just watch South park reruns all fucking day. It's lit. So basically babies and animals they haven't made. I would like to, if I was a volunteer as tribute to switch my consciousness, when, when the black mirror shit come put my consciousness and an infant or a cat. I'm good. Yeah What animal would you want to be

Kristen:

Um I would want to be a golden retriever for a white family only.

D'Janai:

Kristen say grace, Kristen, the dog.

Kristen:

Let me tell you something about Caucasians and their dogs. They do not play. They treat those dogs better than they treat their children sometimes. Yeah. And

D'Janai:

what better Name's Sue

Kristen:

right To be pampered and loved on and just have to look the fight Cute Yeah I want to do that I want to be that

D'Janai:

Honestly the names are very telling me because a white couple will have like a new born baby girl And they'll be like this little girl's name is socket wrench And then they would look at their fucking dog and be like this is uh I don't even know What's a beautiful name This is Angelique Yes

Kristen:

Eva's in the whole nines

D'Janai:

right They'll be like Oh this is our dog Camille And this is our daughter hammer hammer head shark This is our daughter hammerhead shark

Kristen:

Yeah

D'Janai:

I don't know why people would, what is that about? Why do y'all give the dogs, people names and your, your kids' names for like streets and, and

Kristen:

Everything else

D'Janai:

anything Right. Just trying to understand, just trying to understand. but yeah. What about you?

Kristen:

This week is brought to you by the NBA The boys are coming to town. Ladies, the boys are pulling up. It is also our weekend in Atlanta. Um, should be a fun time for the girls who will be in attendance. And at these parties, I will not be, no. I don't I don't I don't uh check all the boxes but No How about you want to live Right Yes Yes True Now this was a regular year I might be out and about because I you know my dream life exerting the least amount of energy but still being very rich Um let me run your charities Bay Let me you know Distribute this money let's get this money but um so um you can work to your games We gonna hang out you know it's going to be it's going to be lit Um but yeah should be fun And I think they chose Atlanta because it was open as hell but they probably should have chosen Texas because clearly Texas don't give a shit

D'Janai:

today They said mask off No more masks skies Um I don't know what's going on down there I mean hell has frozen over and then taken off its masks I'm just like pure anarchy

Kristen:

were just sent the worst disaster that your state has seen in years And your first thought is you know what I'm going to fuck with mother nature some more And we taken these mask off And how about that Now When if she sends on another ice storm it's on you Abbot Governor Abbott because that is bizarre to me not that Texas was like I mean Texas and Atlanta pretty much the same as in like it's been open as hell but that was very shocking Very very shocking to me

D'Janai:

I don't think it's going to lead to anything Good I don't think they're to like everybody's gonna take their masks off and be like guys it's gone You can't catch it anymore Like we are good Like can you feel the brand new day

Kristen:

Right And you know people made a good point That spring break is right around the corner And you just open up your state Like the college kids did not do all the first time And now you're opening it up right before they're like national holiday

D'Janai:

it makes no sense that I was just like yo can y'all just not do that for a minute And then um this man who owes some people some money Um he he want to come forward and say like okay well I know we said it was going to be a month of Sundays before y'all we can go back outside and we're predicting that everybody can get vaccinated but then he says it's may and then Abbott is like um yeah so we got the okay Take the masks off It was just like maybe he doesn't know how to know the difference between March and may Is my question Like maybe he just like yeah he might be confused but no it's it's not the time It's not the time Wait your term Um yeah Good luck to everybody Uh shout out to everybody

Kristen:

that has um Stay safe Texans Yeah And I don't care what this man says Like if I wear a mask like it's not a game out here because when I saw that I was like maybe they know something I don't but then I was like but I do know that people are like in their late twenties and have Straight up passed away No underlying issues Oh by the way underlying and underlining been whooping y'all ass Those are two different words I'll know how many times I go on Twitter and somebody is like Oh yeah I didn't have any underlying diseases I'm like well was it bold in bold or italics Like what do you mean underlining Oh my gosh Um yeah people are weird but you don't have to have uh Disease to perish from this from this virus So stay safe stay in the house stay mask the fuck up until further notice And thank you And thank you Um okay we don't have any announcements

D'Janai:

Um we are back after a little break There was I mean honestly it was bad vibe now that I'm thinking about it like our podcast platform got hacked What the hell was that Um couldn't see No episodes couldn't sign in nothing nothing I was just like this is I don't know what's going on And I was like Christine it might just be the end of it

Kristen:

the demonic

D'Janai:

Yeah so it was that plus work and everything It was just bad vibes all around but we are glad to be back for another week Everything seems to be working perfectly Hopefully it will continue to do so We did promise the last time that we we're going to do something a little different and so this week we are gonna switch up the format And we're going to tell a series of stories Kristen and I both um we chosen a place and we think this place is pretty pretty pretty uh pretty interesting

Kristen:

yeah Yeah for sure And it hits close to home this

D'Janai:

It sure does Yeah sure It is

Kristen:

So this place, is there a reservoir, in the North more Northern part of our wonderful state of Georgia? And it was created, man made, created,

D'Janai:

Not of God, not of God.

Kristen:

In about 19 in the 1950s, but specifically 1956. And so this particular place is reservoir spans over 38,000 acres, in 692 miles.

D'Janai:

I'm not good at math, but I'm gonna assume that's big.

Kristen:

that's big. So this reservoir touches Georgia as well as Alabama and Florida. And this little place would be called Lake linear. Dun dun dun

D'Janai:

Oh my God. So, the first time I ever heard of Lake linear, it was like an inside joke. It was you and. A friend of ours was saying like, we should go to Lake Lanier. And, you were like, Oh. And you, you were like, I'm only if you want to die maybe. And I was like, what's Lake Lanier. And then everybody was like, I was like, damn bitch. I'm not from here. What is this place? And it wasn't until you explained that this place has like a reputation that I was like, Oh no, no, I, I too would like to avoid Lake

Kristen:

Exactly exactly. And growing up, like we would hear about Lake linear, but we have, there are lakes closer to where I grew up in Tennessee. So we would go there. Like we wouldn't travel further into Georgia to go to Lakeland near. So I didn't really understand. the magnitude behind the slake until I did move to Atlanta and people, you know, were talking about it, you'd see the stories. And then it became a place where it's like, I don't really want to go there. Although I have been there once, which I'll talk about later.

D'Janai:

Right. Right. So I guess we'd like to, if you're not familiar with Lake linear, we want to give you like a little background on this particular Lake reservoir. side note. If somebody held a gun to my head and was like spell reservoir with no mistakes, I'd be like, just pull the trigger, man. Like I call the corner.

Kristen:

raise a wall, uh is that French?

D'Janai:

I'm going to say yes. I want to say yes. I'm going to try to spell it right now. R R E S E S.

Kristen:

it out

D'Janai:

C grant daddy gone Go crazy Okay When he find out that she can't spell E S O

Kristen:

the background of the story

D'Janai:

Wait wait let me try again R E D S E R

Kristen:

Very good

D'Janai:

V O I R Okay well

Kristen:

points for Griffin door

D'Janai:

I got it I got it Okay Sorry I'm dumb.

Kristen:

Okay. So. As I stated earlier, this was man made. So before, Lake linear became Lakeland near, this was a town and it was lush and it was fertile and it had active wildlife. It was a thriving community with a lot of local. Farm land and majority of this farm land had been passed down generationally. So w you know, it's the 1950s during this time, if you had land, you kept it in your family. People weren't like burning to sell or trying to establish, I guess, like more neighborhoods. It was like, no, we have acres and we farm, and this is our land. And so the us army Corps of engineers was like, well, love that you guys have farm land. But we're gonna need to create a Lake to help power and supply power and water to Atlanta. And the surrounding cities at this point, Atlanta was, you know, starting to boom. People were moving. More to the city and they couldn't, I guess, handle the amount of people while also getting them the proper power and water that they needed. Also this land was always getting flooded by the Chattahoochee river, which was like connected to, or how to direct stream or okay flood this area very easily So they were like um we're going to put up a dam as well to help with flooding but Because many of these locals had this from him that had been passed down from generations generations When the government approached them was like listen we're going to pay you to move We want your land We're gonna pay you do you want to do it They were very hesitant at first because they're like you can't really put a price tag on the amount of land

D'Janai:

And the fact that it's been passed down from generation to

Kristen:

down exactly At this point people had establish families and had thriving businesses and they were just like yeah well regardless we don't get this land one way or another And so the government who was diagnosed with liabilities in 1832 So all these people like don't worry about it Like we got you we are going to pay you the true value for your land and your real estate and your buildings And so I dug a little deeper and supposedly they were giving them about$30 per acre which obviously it was in the fifties So inflation and day I mean I guess I'd be in the hundreds

D'Janai:

still not enough I think I looked it up and they were like um yeah so this is like this is 30 acres of land Here's$4,100 Go be great That is not shit Like not even then I don't think that was shit

Kristen:

And so according to a historian named Lisa Russell who is she's written a lot of books about like lost towns in Georgia She said that a lot of the locals had Mixed emotions about this They were scared They were nervous They kind of felt like their hands were tied anxiety the whole nine yards because they felt like this land

D'Janai:

of course Oh I have a question What kind of people were living there Oh it was white

Kristen:

Um yeah

D'Janai:

Oh okay Cause

Kristen:

because if it's the fifties we were still

D'Janai:

Okay So it was mostly white people Okay

Kristen:

Yes Indian Bay ended up working out deals with all the families there So total there was over 700 families that had to relocate and over 56,000 acres were actually sold to

D'Janai:

and the rest they just took it Yeah

Kristen:

So at this point It was time to fill her up And it was kind of giving trauma porn because like the people who used to live there they just like pulled up on like the side of the road or bridges or whatever and like just watch their town be flooded

D'Janai:

Wait wait hold on

Kristen:

So they had like a direct view of it being filled Like they came back to watch it be filled

D'Janai:

I so I I think I read that somewhere but my question was how do you fill a reservoir Like where's the water coming from from the dam

Kristen:

No I don't think so I don't know I don't know how you

D'Janai:

pick ELLs

Kristen:

Yeah I think it was just a continuous

D'Janai:

no fuck Everybody's like Pat take a pale

Kristen:

no I think there are are like The government machines that specialize in that I'm pretty sure

D'Janai:

up there with the weather machine Cause how the fuck do you feel I want to I was like how did they fill it Cause they were like Oh it wasn't quite it wasn't full enough And I was like where are y'all getting this from interesting But yeah I did read that they were they were just sitting on the sidelines just watching that shit

Kristen:

Yeah Yeah and so You know the officials went back on like alright well what should we name it And so some officials were like let's name it after a local politician or prominent figure in Georgia Others were like let's name it after a legendary football coach from the state And like that's the most Georgia shit I've ever heard but they finally settled on a Sydney linear who was an 18th century Georgia poet who also wrote the song and the chatter hate G Wait on your honor in the chat and Haiti it gets hotter than it

D'Janai:

the hell Thank you Thank you so much

Kristen:

at this point when like they're starting to make the leg they're filling it up The locals were like we've been bamboozled we've been hoodwinked We've been run them up Cause after they've moved out and moved to different places they're like the little check that they gave us they were making much more money on their land farming And then when they needed to do then the compensation that they receive from selling their land But at that point what you gonna do

D'Janai:

to do Live under water

Kristen:

Exactly But I now one of the segue into do y'all niggas know what you're swimming on when you come to Lake linear So the army or I'm engineers they decided to remove anything that they felt would be too dangerous to leave So anything that they thought could potentially rise up and interfere with future boaters or people swimming they remove it If they thought pretty down to the ground they loved it So they did a brute trees and they did uproot barns and somewhat instructures structures They also relocated or tore down some bridges there are a few things that were left below starting with one there was a whole racetrack near Gainesville Georgia that is still submerged below The only thing that they removed from the racetrack was like the bleachers but the actual track they left that shit They also left some concrete blocks that some of the buildings roommate of because it was I'm assuming it's cheaper to keep her like having to dig all the way down and it removed those Yeah They were just like forget it over time though Being that there was a racetrack and different things that were not cleared out People have spotted tire parts and or tires that have floated to the surface And some deep sea divers or deep Lake divers have stated that they have seen structural buildings and such whole things Once once you go low enough

D'Janai:

Uh uh not bikini bottom No no no

Kristen:

But the most important part of this is that this town also had a cemetery And so

D'Janai:

Okay

Kristen:

know there were ones in the cemetery they were able to identify and move marked graves but the unmarked ones were just And advertently left behind Like if we can't see when we're digging then you know rest in water I'm a spokesperson for the uh us army Corps of engineers Caesar your bore He said the technological capability to identify and verify unmarked burial sites through subsurface scanning or other means was far less robust 70 years ago So they believe Because of where this land was and because of where the civil war took place there is more than likely antebellum and civil war people buried below There are native American origins from like pre-colonial ancient times where you below and then the unmarked graves that no one like if they found it on Mark Gray but they happened to find a body and no one's family came forward they just left it And I'm thinking you said that the land was fertile which gives me the idea that before this cause this is in the fifties before this this and that was probably used for plantations for crops for all types of So if you're saying that I'm thinking there are probably some enslaved Africans that were buried there as well which has led people to believe like Lisa Russell who I spoke of earlier who was a historian of lost or ghost Georgia towns She said the real haunting industry is how history has made it impossible to ignore what was done to the land in North Georgia Once the land of wild rivers North Georgia is now broken with dams and human made Bodies of water that changed that ecosystem Once some land that belonged to indigenous people it is now buried under the water making work covering of lost culture M possible Y'all ever watched Ozark it's giving Ozark Completely me As a matter of fact I found out that Ozark is filmed on Lake linear eye levels Arc I want to know because of this phenomenon of people believing that Lakeland near is haunted There is some truth to that because like niggers want to be deadliest lakes in this country And between 1994 in 2020 203 people have died and drownings and or boating incidents at Lake linear

D'Janai:

Yeah And that's only from what'd you say it was 19 1994 So that's only in the last something years I'm not good at math But then that's not taking into account like all the deaths that happened before that And I think when I was doing my little bit of research it was like it's estimated that there was maybe around like 500 people total who have died in this Lake in this reservoir

Kristen:

Right But I also think about the people who drown who they couldn't deep dive to go recover they just sank the bottom And they're having people who have claimed like I was swimming in Lake linear and a leg hit me on the way up like bitch what

D'Janai:

I mean yeah they they definitely have claimed that And so I don't know like I after hearing all that I'm just like first off it's all bad vibes off rip because of the history of it And then All of the deaths that have happened Like since then it's just like I yeah I mean I don't think this is a Twinkie dink cause people will say like well officials will say Oh it's all of the destiny accidents and all the drownings and stuff like that This is things these are things that happen on every Lake Like it's it's because of the amount of people who are on the Lake but really when you look at the numbers there are other lakes that have the same amount of visitors going there have the same amount of have the same amount of traffic are the same size but they are half the number of accidents and deaths are half So I don't know

Kristen:

right If not bigger lakes that are just not seeing the same amount of

D'Janai:

Exactly Somebody lied It's it's giving haunted is

Kristen:

It is it is I can say I've been in Lakeland near once I went a boat with my best friend Matt shout out to Matt Jones developed supporter of this podcast lovey Matt every listening and it was him and some friends we went on a bow I did not get in the water and less I'm not going to say that cause it's We can cut this out but in the leg like there's nowhere to pee So you pee in the water

D'Janai:

Dirty little fish

Kristen:

I like put my body halfway in and I was holding onto the and I just like

D'Janai:

You're lucky that one of them uh apparitions didn't just grab you and yeah bitch can swim and I can swim And I was like I'm not I'm not getting fully in I don't want to do that My only by the grace of God I have never been I'm not going to go uh but I have I had heard a story about like something tragic happening on Lake linear but at the time I did not know that it was lately near Um so this is going back to 2012 and a story came out on the news talking about an 11 year old boy uh who was At Lake Lanier apparently he was riding in an inner tube with the with a girl you know I don't know family member friend whatever Um I was 15 years old and they were both in the inner tube and it was being pulled by a boat a pontoon boat on liquid air And just as that's happening I want to say it's a speed boat came and hit them and so people saw it and like it was it was really bad And I don't know what happened to the girl but I know that the little boy who was 11 years old his name was Kyle Glover And the reason why it was big news because this little boy happened to be usher stepson Uh Tamika foster was her name Tamika fosters uh son So Um I know that it was like it was crazy because like they had to take him into the hospital and like I think he was in a coma for a while he had a really bad head injury and he was in the hospital for weeks and people didn't know what he was if he was gonna make it or not Uh unfortunately two weeks after the incident he did pass away in Atlanta and it's it's just it's fucked up Cause it was just like that was like a like a freak accident Um And the person but here's the thing I didn't know the person who accidentally hit him was uh a 40 year old man named Jeffrey Hubbard He was the one who was on the on the jet ski or the personal watercraft is what they're calling it I dunno what it was like a Swan boat Like I'm gonna assume it was going fast enough that it was like a speed boat Um and he happened to be a family friend who was part of the group out there that day So it wasn't like he was a stranger He was like it was a family friend Yeah So in the end um Jeffrey Simon Hubbard was found guilty on five counts uh including homicide by vessel in the first degree serious injury by vessel reckless operation of a vessel unlawful operation of a personal watercraft w I'm sorry personal watercraft and a traffic boat violation And so I think he was sentenced to about like four years in prison I don't know if he started all four years but he was sentenced to four I think It's fucked up Wow Well

Kristen:

Our member when that story came out and that is so unfortunate I can say I have been tubing before Not on the back of a tune It's like a regular like Mastercraft boat And sometimes people will come you Cause when you're tubing you're trying to like ride the waves So you'll have people come near you to give you more waves to like bounce He was trying to maybe create waves for them because the pontoon is so slow and maybe he got too close and just them but typically you're not it doesn't take that much to create waves You don't have to be that close So if he was getting that far up on them for error 100% but

D'Janai:

Wow Well thank you for that context I have never known my being funny Like would have because I was like Whoa like you said like how can you not see them But maybe he trying to make it more fun for them Oh my God Um but yeah so that was the first time I ever heard of anything Um and that was Like a very popular story Another story though dates all the way back to the fifties Um not long after the the Lake was created Um most people know it Like if you don't know anything about liquidy or you probably have heard this story and it is the legend of the lady of the Lake So the story goes like this on April 16th, 1958 two mothers had decided to go to a local Roadhouse for nine hours Now I don't know what a road house is Didn't care to look it up I'm going to assume it's like um what actually I clue Right Like Yeah I was like rolled out Like I don't Um but I'm a as a hootenanny you know it's party I don't know but uh they are going out It is girls nights and um 37 year old Susie Smallwood Roberts had picked up her friend a 23 year old woman named Delia Mae Parker young And I was like 37 and 23 That's a big age difference What are we talking about I'm going I'm about to I'm talking about menopause You talking about stickers I don't know why a wide range she's too old to be talking about stickers but you know what I'm saying Like that's a big age gap but girl they're going out so Susie picks up Delia in her 1954 blue Ford for a night out daily is all excited for the evening and she borrows a blue dress from whom I don't know but she borrows a blue dress just for that night So after spending some time at the Roadhouse it was called a three Gables Country They were they were last seen at a nearby gas station where they uh decided to get gas They also decided to not pay Um the gas and left off on the plug twice like their stuff Is that is this back in the day where like people would come out and pump your gas Cause I love that shit Bring that back I either profession Like you pull up ring the bell and then My gas attendant like I make money but yeah no apparently they they I don't know got that gas Got that ass and Lee I don't know it wasn't a rhyme but star skirt they were out and apparently they were going somewhere fast trying to get away obviously cause they didn't want to get in trouble And so they're speeding you know if they're having a joy ride or whatever and then they come to the Dawsonville highway bridge that's Overlake linear and so they're speeding off into the night. And Delia Mae Parker young does not come home to her infant daughter that night Uh Susie Smallwood Roberts also doesn't return home So their families report this to the police Like Hey no four a night out They did not come home

Kristen:

can you look into it So

D'Janai:

the police

Kristen:

try to retrace their steps and they know that that if they were going to this uh sock hop situation they would have needed to cross the highway to get back home And when they get to the the the Dawsonville highway bridge They don't see anything except for some skid marks that crossed the center line and appeared to go off the edge Right So the police they're there looking And so it indicates that the car may have crossed the center line and gone completely off the road And I'm like I was thinking like damn like carnal wasted no time Like what the fuck It was just some gas chill So then when the police get there they're searching the water and they couldn't find anything No car Nobody's just skid marks And I wrote just like somebody shitless sexless men out here like just dirty broke no car Nobody's just skid marks No we promise We won't talk about dirty draws for another two weeks We promise We have a problem It's literally my only I literally text use your name nailing I'm having a bowel movement Every day I'm like Oh my girl what color is it What's the consistency Um so um yeah there's just they're gone without a trace Uh about 18 months later though a fishermen was under the Dawsonville highway bridge where he would make a gruesome discovery So he calls the police And when they arrive at the scene they find a horribly bloated body floating on the Lake Uh this body was missing two toes from the left foot The arms were intact except both arms were missing its hands Now it's assumed that they had either been Lost or sorry cut off at the time of the incident Like some people think like maybe cause of the impact maybe the hands got away from her but sorry That's I haven't take that out no no you're good

D'Janai:

Um So The Lake wasn't you know it wasn't just water and SpongeBob and Patrick there were also plenty of catfish in there So they're thinking that maybe The catfish had gotten to her hands and ate them So Needless to say this body was very badly decomposed which would have made it very hard to identify under any circumstance you know like who it was But on top of that the body had dentures So there were no dental records which I was like dentures both these womens under 40 years old but different time I guess Uh but but that means there's no dental records I guess but I'm like when you get the gingers they don't make you chew on something so they can I don't know Oh I'll wait Maybe all her teeth were good It was just gum me mommy So I guess I guess yeah maybe it was just gums So we was 18 months later So any body still intact in some hands like

Kristen:

right And of course yeah me too I was I'm surprised there was anything left but um they also like they weren't able to do fingerprints because no hands so no fingerprints obviously Uh but the people the locals of Dawsonville they were sure that they knew exactly who it was So After the incident and before the body was discovered dozens of locals had claimed that while driving along the Dawsonville bridge they had seen the ghost of a handless woman in a blue dress wandering along the highway So there'll be driving and there'll be like that lady looks lost and she ain't got no hands Yeah Yeah So this is fucked up but it's like I guess if if she wanted to So try to like signal to like to get a ride you know like the

D'Janai:

My

Kristen:

gods that either She w she was showing showing mostly feet but we are going to hell we cannot put this on the podcast Um Oh yeah So they were sure that it was Delia because it was well known that she was last seen in a blue dress that she'd borrowed So they were sure that it was Delia And although some people swore it was her the authorities they they had really no way to confirm the identity of this person Like there were just like look I understand that you saw a ghost Cool But we do facts over here most of the time So we can't quite just say that this is Delia So ultimately the body that was found was laid to rest at a local cemetery and an unmarked grave And it stayed like that for a long time And as the years went on Delia's legend grew into a local myth and her ghost became known as the lady of the Lake

D'Janai:

this legend became like a whole thing Everybody was taught Well I mean anybody who cares about ghosts is talking about it And so the lady of the the lady of Lake linear um Was uh considered to be a residual haunting which is if you don't know it's a phenomenon Parris psychologist described as an apparition that appears more like a recording of a previous event uh than an interactive entity So residual hauntings are most often found at the location of a traumatic event where the energy of heightened emotions are fused to the fabric of a place So it'll just stay there Just kind of like on loop

Kristen:

right The soul is not at rest My body was on her phone

D'Janai:

Exactly Exactly Exactly Y'all going to see me trying to hitch a ride with no thumbs So over the years Susie Robert's family wondered like what just what happened to her Cause they cause everybody in the town is like so sure Like the well this is Delia but what happened to Susie and her husband actually died in 1972 Never knowing like what happened to her And her son James um he said that like he said that like we believed that she was you know in in the Lake but then we heard that she might've been in Chicago maybe Florida Like they were still thinking she was alive maybe Um and they they were just wondering like maybe she just like taken off or you know maybe she survived the crash but she had amnesia She just didn't know which way to go And I was like that is so Like optimistic Oh right You said that I said optimistic

Kristen:

It's both because maybe

D'Janai:

do you know how deep the water is over a bridge even like even deeper than Yeah You know when SpongeBob takes the bus and he goes to the end of it and then he goes down all the way down to like the sea and they don't even speak English down there and all they Can you help Um so yeah they didn't know where she could have been if she was alive or dead fast forward to November of 1990 when a construction crew was working on the bridge and they find a car it's the same type of Ford car that both Susie and Delia were driving in on that fateful night in 1958 And so they they find the car they're spraying it down with water they're trying to get all the mud out and And what do they find in the car What else But the body of a woman Still in the car you are fucking lying I am fucking true thing They find the body of a woman still inside the car Um and they need to figure out like whose car did this belongs to Luckily the license plate is still on the car so they can probably identify the the license plate And after they completely remove that the body from the car it's later identified as Susie Roberts by her family And this is a whole 32 years later after she had gone missing So they were able to confirm I know in that crazy So they were able to confirm that um that now this woman they knew was Susie So the other woman had to be Delia So people maybe people were fucking right Like maybe they did see her like cause how did they know Um so yeah so eventually both women were given like a proper burial with uh like Mark headstones and everything so you would think that they're there like if there were any ghosts or apparitions that we'll be able to rest but since then people have still reported that they see dealio still wandering on the bridge and the blue dress Um and she's described as looking lost and like searching for something And they're like what is she looking for Maybe her hands maybe her friend I don't know what she's looking for but you know either way rest in peace both of them I hope she got her hands back in heaven I think you do Right I in how you yeah I think like before like you get to the Gates or like so what do you want to look like if I get to heaven they ask me what I want to look like I'll be like sweetie period baby Right Doesn't she have the best legs Those NOLs girls got some good games on Okay Okay That is so fucking creepy And I did not look up the lady in the link on purpose because I wanted to hear you tell it And I did not know They found her chilling in the front seats hanging out was down there having a Kiki the fishes I know see that doesn't sit right in my spirit No else I'm thinking about too Maybe it's symbolic that Dealey his hands were missing because you know what they do but they used to do if they caught you stealing in like some cultures they would cut your fucking hands off So maybe it was her idea to steal the gas or maybe she did it And Like that's why her goals has no hands Okay let's talk You Go ahead Cause you're on onto something They're onto why just the hands Right And also if they cause I was thinking like if they were speeding away or hypothetically if they were trying to drive away from someone and they just lost control and went over the side I would feel like there'd be other skid marks from someone pursuing them and not just theirs uh Hmm I don't know what they were doing cause First off it's 1958 How much was gas Like half a penny per gallon Like it could not have been that much money And they just came from a party So either they like they had been drinking and they were like let's do something crazy Or maybe they spent up all their money on boobs act like we're in the leashes Just like maybe we're going out together I look I mean maybe maybe they were like star-crossed lovers and they were about to drive to Chicago or um Florida They said fuck them kids and took off I don't know but I hope that there are no more sightings I hope that both of their souls get to rest in peace I feel like having to relive if if it's true like the the whole apparition like ghost thing having to relive that moment over and over and that decision over and over whatever it was is torture enough You you get to go to the good place Now it's been for 32 years It's been more than that yeah That's a lot Of time to a path have been like okay I get it I got it in year 10 I got it in your 17 I got it in year 32 Let

Kristen:

me

D'Janai:

exactly So I hope her and her hands are doing it up in heaven Um yeah So that's that's the story of the of lady of the Lake Love it

Kristen:

okay I'm going to take you guys to labor day weekend of 2019 And for some reason labor day in Atlanta has become like the place to be usually there's labor day weekend happening plus people out on the Lake Plus just like everyone comes to Atlanta for labor day I don't get it but people were here and the girls were out the girls and the guys were out And so I mean by the name of Michael Thompson he was 61 years old He was actually a resident of Gainesville Georgia and had his own property in boat dock on Lake linear And so I guess Michael was going to have people over the next day because of this took place on a Friday evening So he was down at his boat dock getting things ready because his family knew that they were going to come to the Lake to be with Michael not much is known about what took place All that we know is that Around midnight of that night a family member decides to come over I don't know if Michael had told him to come over but they come over and they can't find Michael So they head down to the boat dock and that is where they find Michael's lifeless body Not in the boat just in the in the water he had And this was weird to his family because Michael could swim He's 61 years old He lives on the water He knows how to swim He obviously knows how to care for a boat He has a boat dock which is even more expensive I think than like actually having a home They're and he was gone And so the police obviously pulled him out They did an autopsy and there were no obvious signs of trauma And they ultimately ruled his death as an accidental drowning which did not make sense to his family Because again Michael could swim like a fish but there was nothing to go off of There was no marks on his body There was no signs of a struggle It was just Michael in the water dead what less than 24 hours later A little bit further up the Lake the family of regional Terrail Whitehead uh they were on the Lake as well Again Memorial day weekend Everyone's having fun So Reginald was a person who could not swim but his family describes that There's like on the boat dock there's a way that you can like lower the boat as well as um like a boat ramp Uh and I believe Reginald was on the ramp that had like the uh jet skis on it I think he was going like individual Individual water device Yes So uh Reginald family said that while on the boat ramp with in while on like the trailer to load it up they I guess had turned their backs When they turned around Reginald had fallen into the water Reginald's family attempted to throw out different flotation devices They attempted to Help him but Reginald could not swim and he was not wearing a life jacket I was just about to say why is anybody out there without a live chat again hello And so they watch as not them watching him drown to his death members who try to jump in and save him And at that point he had already too far down for them But it sounds as though from all accounts the family tried really hard to Pull him back up grab him and find him But I know personally I don't open my eyes underwater and I can't hold my breath that long So if you could pass a certain point and I can't see you not that what are we supposed to do What would you say Do

D'Janai:

Watching No I don't bitch I don't know I'll be the one drowning and watching I I'm useless

Kristen:

the reason I wanted to highlight these two stories is because there have been accounts of other people saying that sometimes from swimming in this Lake they feel as though something grabs them and trying to pull them below the surface There've been a few accounts of that So now we have a man who can swim Seems to just have drown on his own accord then another man who can't swim but had enough people around him where he probably could have survived But if this Lake is as haunted or as weird could it have been something supernatural happening underneath the surface in that You know remains the question for me at least I remember when these two stories came out because Lakeland near every time someone dies at trends on Twitter And then literally the next morning I woke up and solve the story about Reginald And everyone was like all right it's time to shut this place down No one needs to be out here for Memorial day weekend There's not enough policemen on the water Um we're it's happening to people who can swim who can't swim who have on life jackets who don't

D'Janai:

Right

Kristen:

going on Um but I remember yeah I remember these stories very vividly but um just zero out of 10 a place I don't ever want to go again I'm No but you know what So when I was doing research there were a lot of People who said the same things People were like I've been swimming And I felt something that felt like you know a limb an arm or a leg or maybe it was daily as hand Like it could have been anything And they're just like I'm feeling something in the water I've been I feel like I'm being pulled down by something and I'm like wow I don't want to believe that that is happening Cause that's real scary So I want to believe that maybe there is something else Like it could just be like a mental thing but also I think there's something is pulling them down Have you heard the chicken truck story with regard to Lake linear Well let me tell you about it So um back in the day eighties there was a truck full of chickens that was crossing a bridge near a Lake linear called Thompson bridge So um the the truck is driving driving driving boop falls off the bridge Right So the truck falls into the water and because it's full of chickens I mean actually I don't know how was it the people who were driving it but um the chickens chickens last time I checked can't slim I don't know Somebody fact checked me

D'Janai:

but

Kristen:

um look at all these chickens In the water chicken of the sea literally So all these chickens are loose in the water and as they're trying well they're dying Um as that's happening the diverse come Hopefully the people who are actually driving it will uh survive but some some divers some authorities come to try to like um I guess maybe salvage the chickens or the truck or whatever but when they get down there do you know what they see Remember earlier I mentioned the catfish So what they claim to see is catfish Quote the size of 12 year old boys swallow swallowing these chickens whole not even like chewing just and they're like there was tons of them Yeah Yeah so and I looked it up and this should exist Like there are big ass catfish Y'all pauses look up giant catfish and then throw up and then come back like um it was like an Alaskan bull worm Like it was big Those fish got into the salty spittoon I'm sorry that I'm making so many SpongeBob jokes but I can't stop How tough are you eaten a truck full of chickens

D'Janai:

Yeah Oh my gosh Um yeah so I think that it's possible that it's the catfish the catfish is trying to kill you Um and so One of the divers saw this with her own eyes She was like I'm never swimming in that Lake again Like she like y'all fuck with y'all thought No Exactly No no So um yeah I've heard that before and I was just like yeah no I believe that Cause a giant catfish do exist and I'm good

Kristen:

I don't This is why I don't be out there This is God If God wanted us down there that he would have gave us gills We have no business zero business in water Like When will people learn fake manmade water Oh yes These are Ninja turtle fish These these are radioactive master splinters down there on no no no no no Nope Nope Uh and that's that is why Cause it's it's sewage It's radioactive It's it's got nothing but Kristin's piss in it and and catfish and dead bodies Kristen's PIs Um I'm good I'm good on this I'm joking I would pee pee off the boat You know me I would have my entire ass cheeks out No

D'Janai:

Um Okay So do you know the uh the Kelly Nash story Oh girl then Okay Then uh I'm excited him if you don't know it Okay So um I have one last story for you This is a creepy one It actually happens a little bit more recent this one takes place in 2015 So 25 year old Kelly Nash was an accounting student Kelly is he's a boy named Kelly Uh he's an accounting student and worked at his dad's construction company at the time So he'd been working with Zach for like 14 months and he had plans to build a house uh that he had designed himself which I said you know what that's smart as Exactly we'd be like Oh don't talk to the construction workers Maybe do talk to the construction workers because like land development the construction honeys are where it's at because he could build you a whole house build you a whole house and they get that discount It's like$3,000 for a whole like ranch house So Uh I think that's probably the way to go Uh so he's got you know a lot going for me also has a girlfriend he's been dating this woman named Jessica for three years She's a little bit older than him She's 30 I was 25 they've been going strong for three years And the two had actually just recently moved into a house together Not like not far from where his dad lives about two and a half miles away from his dad's house So I guess like it's a close knit family and everything And by all accounts Kelly was just a nice young Caucasian man His parents said that he just he stayed trouble He didn't have a record or anything Like he was nice So when when Kelly Nash goes missing his family and friends have no clue what could have happened to him So there's a Reddit article that I read that kind of breaks it down by a timeline which I love So I'm go down the line So it's uh January Fourth 2015 at 9:00 PM So it's in the evening and Kelly is seen on CCTV purchasing cold medicine from a gas station near his house And he's on the phone And I guess his girlfriend Jessica confirms that he's on the phone with her at this time I don't know how they find out but yes they confirmed that he's on the phone with his girlfriend Then sometime after 9:00 PM he gets home Uh and Jessica says that he's sleeping on the couch that night because he is he's sick Uh he's sneezing you know he's he's not feeling well and he doesn't want to keep waking her up with all the coughing and sneezing Shit he's doing so this is a considerate man First off I just want to Most of these men will sit up They will sneeze extra loud so you can feel bad Like they will They will sneeze in your mouth just to just to show dominance

Kristen:

We stick together germs No I hate you for saying that Cause I just got the nastiest fucking visual I hate you Kristen Um they'll cough into your eyeball and they'll be like look every man who's sick Looks like that Fucking cat that coughing cat Cause they're like give me look how sick are you feel bad for me But this is this is a consider a man he's out on the couch while she's in the bed so she can get up early for work So this the same evening but it's it's now January 5th, 2015 and it's just before 3:30 AM So it's very very early in the morning And Jessica receives a phone call from Kelly's phone but like he was in the house Right So I don't know but maybe he could have been dial tar but um but he doesn't leave a message either Like no like he doesn't say anything It's just like muffled words and sounds so like maybe he's talking in his sleep or like nobody knows but just you know it's incoherent basically Uh but it's a 28 second voicemail That's left on her phone Um then a couple of minutes later at three 30 I'm guessing she's like Hmm why are you calling me And leaving a message So she gets up and she says that she sees Kelly on the couch and he's playing with his X-Box So I guess he's up like he can't sleep cause he he's sick So he's just up playing X-Box at 3:30 AM and she's like I guess he's fine And goes back to bed Um then almost an hour later at 4:20 AM a four 24 20:00 AM Someone is there's a man who's captured on the uh the gas station the same gas station I'm assuming um on the CCTV walking down the street Um so Oh yeah it is it is the same gas station where Kelly had purchased the cold medicine And when they're looking at it they're like it looks like it could be him But they're not able to confirm that it's him So it's just like you were playing video games the 15 minutes that you're going out for more cough medicine are they giving it to you And like the cups like you didn't get enough you just bought some is he ODI I don't know But usually they give you enough to like take more than one dose So I find that to be odd

D'Janai:

And when she woke up I don't know if you would know this cause this is just Minor details but she talked to him like Hey did you call me Or

Kristen:

was it just

D'Janai:

like

Kristen:

back call me Um it doesn't say but maybe they did exchange words but she I mean she was like I got work in the morning You're playing video games I'm going back to bed but Um I guess they they only see him on the exterior camera actually So he doesn't even go into the into the store They just see somebody who looks like it could be him walking past the um the gas station So uh it is now about three hours later It's 7:30 AM again it's January 5th 5th, 2015 Jessica wakes up to let out the dogs or whatever And I guess she goes back to the couch to see if Kelly's there but he's gone He's gone but his truck his wallet his phone and his coat Are still in the house And so maybe she thinking like maybe he went outside for a second or he maybe he went to the store real quick Um she waited a few minutes but it's not long after that that Jessica contacts the authorities because she's like Hmm my boyfriend's missing So a couple of things to know it was 32 degrees Fahrenheit outside The night that Kelly went missing So that's literally freezing That is the wa that is the temperature at which water freezes So it's freezing cold And he was wearing only a pair of thin pajama pants and no coat when he left the house Well when they're like they think that they see him on this camera so it's just like That doesn't make any sense It's freezing cold Like that's not that's just that is unusual they'd start to look around and stuff like that but they don't find them So then the police starts searching the home where he and Jessica lives they start searching the surrounding areas and in the surrounding area that happened to live near Like linear So they start searching the Lake they start searching their home Um the pretty much everything in the home was accounted for except for a nine millimeter handgun so um they're like okay left the phone took the gun Interesting No cause w and what what are you doing that you don't need your phone or your wallet but you need a right So uh the police are investigating and while they're investigating his family his family is assuring them Like look this is not the type of person who would just like run off Like he's not the type to just disappear for a couple of days and just come back He's not like that So they they put out like a full search party They've got uh helicopters and tracking dogs and all this stuff to look for for Kelly and unfortunately like they don't find anything They no clues at all And the search went on for weeks Um and as time went along like a$50,000 reward was offered No one you know but no one could claim it because no one could find anything Yeah So it's weeks later now it is February 8th, 2015 and uh fishermen is fishing and he finds Kelly's body in Lakeland ear Uh he finds him in a Cove just behind his father's house what Now remembered that he went missing on the 5th of January So it's over a month later And so it's I mean it's one thing is that it's cold but decomposition going to do what to do So they were only mostly able to identify him based on the tattoos on his body Um and just keep in mind he's like he's six foot two is a big guy So anybody who thought that maybe he like maybe he was abducted or whatever it's just like I mean by who and what army like is a big guy Um but they were basically able to identify him based on his tattoos but because of the deteriorated state of his body like the officials could not really confirm what actually killed him because they when they first found him they didn't see any immediate signs of trauma They were just like we don't know what the fuck happened here Uh but of course the media is all over it Cause like they finally we finally found Kelly We finally found Kelly but The uh the County hall Sheriff's officials they didn't want to make any comment on whether or not they'll play was suspected or anything like that initially because they were just like we don't know they were waiting to hear the official report from the medical examiner before releasing any cause or manner of death So um But they did say that based on the evidence they feel that he went into the water in close proximity to where he was found So it wasn't like he had floated down you know the Lake and ended up in that Cove And that would have been very very like coincidental right To be like in a Cove right by his father's house They were like no like where he found where we found him is probably where he Yeah So it was later determined that he'd actually died of a gunshot wound and drowning Now in official autopsy has not been released Like as far as I know it has not been released but the police have also maintained that there was no foul play involved Um so they're thinking like either it was an accident or possibly suicide right Um they also don't say whether or not they recovered like a bullet from or the gun that was used at the scene So they don't know like it was this his gun or what kind of bullet actually um you know killed him So there's that uh then I guess maybe it took a while for the police to get there And this fishermen maybe he had a family or whatever I don't know who this girl is but apparently there was a 17 year old girl who lived on the Cove where his body was discovered And she had taken a picture of him and posted it to her Twitter account because she's sick And so I mean we do not want to see that now And what you think it was going to give to not do what you thought it was going to gave Yeah we do not care for it I just want to be completely transparent I will talk about murder till the cows come home but do I want to see it No I never look up crime scene photos I don't even I barely watch like scary shit on T I can't watch it I can listen to it You know Have you seen that tick talk where it's like um It's like her eyes were cut out Her arms were cut out Her eyebrows were waxed Right Right My mom also showed me a skit today from SNL last week about uh how Our generation or women in our generation just cannot get enough of true crime It's a really funny song I'm going to find it

find it Please send it to me I mean I don't know if this is like side note I don't know if this is bad or what like are they trying to like low key desensitize us to like some of the most like the worst shit ever and we're just eating it up Like are we all sheeple You know like where like I'm getting so used to hearing her eyelids were cut All her eyebrows were cut off Her nose was cut off Her ears were sliced and we're just like Hmm Yes Music to my ears And then when when they do start cutting our eyeballs off and stuff like that we going to be like well we knew it We heard it Hmm I don't know But uh we're going to keep doing this anyway but anyways um I was I gonna say so she posted a picture of him on her Twitter account It was removed uh taken down as it should have been but supposedly suppose that you won't take that down but what about all all the people calling me all types of let's not even say it all the races You're going to take that I mean you should have taken that down but let's talk about the racist the trolls Take those down If you get on Twitter after 7:00 PM you're dodging dicks Like nobody like the fucking matrix I do not want to see it But yeah So supposedly anybody who does see the photo says that uh it shows that there were fish gathered around the top and back of Kelly's head indicating that this is what was the site of a gunshot wound because fish are nasty and they're gonna eat your brains things first that's I actually made that song with catfish in mine Uh Seriously Cause that's what a motherfucking monster do Um this is the second week that we're quoting Ms Manoj Um but yeah so they're saying that because of Where the fish were there indicating that that was um where the gunshot wound was Uh and my thing is this the top in the back of his head like either he was Mrs Incredible And he had stretchy Gumby arms Cause they're if they're talking suicide he would've had to contort his arm Right And in order to do that uh which doesn't make any sense to me but there's another theory but I'll get there are a couple of rumors and unsubstantiated claims that I want to Lay on you before Um the one that makes sense comes through So uh early on there were reports in the newspapers that Kelly had been seen in like a bad part of town one day before he actually went missing and that he had like a burner phone So they're trying to say like he maybe he was up to some shifty shiesty shit With with the construction business going on and accounting it's giving Ozark really it is It is But you also have to be like Yeah money laundering is more than just money laundering This is like more factors So like I'm just saying far-fetched for me Well Yeah Yeah Um some people were trying to also double down and say like when they found him his feet were bound together So they're just like yeah somebody did this to him Some people were saying that there were also rumors that Jessica had actually found his body not the fishermen So that would have been suspicious Jonah So I don't know about that then there was someone on a web sluice that said that their dad was friends with Alan Nash who was Kelly Nash's dead And According to Alan Nash Kelly was scheduled to testify in an upcoming murder trial So maybe there could have been and look this is all hearsay I do not know Um but they're trying to think Oh the mob is on it I'm just like no mob over there Y'all all I got is catfish and piss water We nobody's going over there but okay Um then there were a couple people who did not believe Jessica's Account of what actually took place They were saying that her version of events and her response and interviews was weird they also said that she had supposedly had a drug problem in the past And they also said that a few months after Kelly's death her Facebook had been completely wiped clean and she was with somebody else again can't like prove this or whatever but they're saying like Oh she moved on too quickly And her response was just very like cut and dry matter of fact but as we know we always say this how people respond to like grief is exactly is going to be different So who knows Um This is not fair Then they say that 10 years before Kelly's disappearance Jessica was going through a tough separation with her then husband and then he happened to die in a suspicious car wreck So um That's what they think

D'Janai:

but

they weren't even married Like these two weren't even married So like what money was she going to get Or like what was the end goal They're like well what would have been the point So that didn't make any sense but still some members of Jessica's late ex-husband's family came forward was like Hmm Maybe look at Jessica Hm Hm Right right So maybe that and then there was like some rumor on Reddit that the pump at the gas station that Kelly had walked by on the camera uh was set on fire the same night that Kelly went missing What I mean did he touch it Like what who cares and what kind of fucking crazy bozo is going to set How do you say I could if you paid me I couldn't set a pump at a gas station on fire And why would I do that When I when I have seen um what's the name of the movie I'm thinking about Thank you I've seen Zoolander I know it happens Why in the hell What I want to do that So no I don't think that makes any sense but this is the thing that probably doesn't make sense So they say that there was a gunshot wound in the back of his head which at first I was thinking of it like an entrance wound but it could've also been an exit wound Right so yeah it seems like his family like they think that it was actually suicide so they've kind of like been at peace with it Like they well not at peace but I think that they've accepted that that was what actually happened that um there's a good chance that he just took his own life But I guess my I'm just like he had so much to live while he was doing so much Like you're in school you've got your girlfriend I mean I don't know what the relationship was like but you've got your girlfriend you got plans to build a house and they're like all of a sudden you take your own life in that kind of way Um you were sick and then like it I don't know It just it just seems like suspicious to me a little bit but Um it seems like the family has just I don't know like they they yeah genuinely mourn to CIS passing Uh but they did not Um they didn't say like there's a killer on the loose or like they were no cries for justice or anything like that They were just like we think it was just sad It was just a suicide but almost like maybe the Lake made them do it You know what I'm saying Maybe it was just bad vibes from the fucking Lake because it does doesn't make any sense to me why I mean well then that's not fair of me to say because Right You know And we always want to assign meaning to to death always And I'm just like what does it mean But maybe it just means that he didn't want to be here anymore Or maybe he got possessed by one of them fucking catfish He got put one of the lost souls in the water maybe Um but yeah It is it's so mysterious and weird Like you just you never know But my key takeaways are I'm never going to Lakeland here I don't care what the fuck is going on over there You getting married girl Good luck Um you want to go on a boat or whatever I think I would I'm not going to go over there I don't you know how I feel about ghosts and shit like that Not sure if it's real not going to chance It seems like bad vibes all around And if it's not ghosts it's definitely catfish in They're are disgusting They're ugly I'm going to kill them Give me$200 So Not worth it in my book When you can just go to a pool it's going to do the same thing Like I get like boats are fun It is fun to go on a boat Um but I like uh controlled boats you know I like yachts I like yachts where it's like you don't even have to get in the water cause you yeah Everything you need right there I'm talking big shit I've never been on a yacht should have just pretended No I'm I'm right there with you I don't need a vessel Okay Like you want to go on a Lake Like Oh it's what like you want to swim Like okay Like you just said pools Okay And you can pee in there too Nobody's gonna stop you it's gonna it's gonna filter out I peed in a pool I'm just saying I've heard it can filter You have I can't prove it No one can but they do have they do have those chlorine pools now where like if you pee it turns like another color That was in grownup Well wait maybe that's something that they told kids Hold on If you if you know if you're a pool sciences let us know because they definitely told kids like don't pee in the pool Cause if you even pee in the pool it's going to turn bright purple and everybody's going to know you peeing in the pool So the kids were like and not peeing in the pool but maybe that was like a lie They told us so that we wouldn't be in the pool

D'Janai:

If

Kristen:

you're a pool expert hit us up We don't have Google So yeah Um but yeah and also another takeaway is fishermen be seeing some shit Cause in both the stories that I told the bodies were discovered by fishermen which like mean P T S D They just want the fish and that's it They didn't come here to be a part of an investigation I just wanted to catch some fish Right Hmm My takeaways are that next to me and a Lake In a Lake or in the ocean just remember that you are swimming on dead bodies multiple because the amount that have not been recovered I don't think we'll ever know the number Um so just keep out of mine I whatever it is the fear of the ocean I have that I can only go into about my ankles before I kind of um I had a bad experience Uh my father almost had me Um yeah Not not a fun time We we're on vacation in the Gulf shores and the people Who were staying in our condo before us they have like left and no and left this huge like red raft to when it was like Hey we couldn't fit it back in our car guys want to use it use it And of course when I was like this is great So we ended up taking it out to the ocean and he five 10 about five nine five 10 So not short not tall but just like in that medium median But he's built though Y'all gonna need to see her father Oh my God Anyways I just throw fire her dad's body is something else LA home so he's he's taking us out in this like red rafting and we like it current or something where he no longer has control and he is underwater And it was my I mean I know what they felt like on the Titanic because I was just types of salt water and so traumatic We finally get back to shore I'm crying My sister's crying My mom is just like Porsche And my mom is just like why did you take them out that part And he's like they're fine I'm fine Look they're they're good Like they didn't need to have a reason to be scared was like your head anymore You were underneath the water and we were taking taking on water luckily we made it back but ever since then I was like I I don't want to be that from the ocean ever as well as lakes they're fun Don't I haven't too since I would think I was in like seventh grade not fun I can swim but I always wear a live fist because I have no time to play those games pools are just more secure safe to me and I can see my feet And no fish Um wow That is very traumatic Um the only thing that I could think of that was traumatic When it came to water somebody definitely picked me up I mean I'm little I've always been really small Uh I lived in Florida pools everywhere Your girl could not swim Nobody taught me how to swim but somebody assumed that I could swim picks me up and threw me in the water And when I tell you I was like five so he had no business doing this He picked me up and threw me like W one hand on the arm one hand on the leg There you go Like through me like I was some fucking laundry bitch I hit that water Like And my my my grandmother she's like she can't say it was a mad dash to save the baby That was awful Like I S I swallow man chlorine I was coughing Um I never forgot that I never forgave him And it was a grown ass man Like it wasn't like Oh he was a teenager This man had to be in his forties So what in the hell were you doing Right Uh but that was traumatic Uh and to this day like I'm not really sure if I can swim I'm be honest with you I don't know I feel like I can I think I can I think I can but I would only really know if I was in a situation and I'm pretty sure if I could I'm not a strong swimmer at that you know like Sure Right If you can float in wait in the water you're fine but you need to know how to do it because it's a life skill Right You fucking not you better not That's actually me I hate

D'Janai:

no

Kristen:

every summer though every summer there's always a video of some Uh teenagers or young people and there's a girl who's cute And though she's cute And somebody is like Oh it'd be a good idea to push this girl or throw her in the water It's always some men And why are you doing that Because you do not know if she can swim like don't fucking do that but they if she My wig you don't know what's going That's lashes are magnetic Don't do that Because when I lose one of my$40 glam netic lashes I'm whooping your ass and I'm keying your car Okay Um that's why the ad for glam medic I bought them I haven't put them on yet If they're due to I'm going to tell you Please let me know from what I've read the reviews pretty pretty solid Yes The reviews seem pretty solid The reason why I'd never considered it before is because I was just like I don't want to go blind so no I'm just like I it doesn't seem like but I I'm thinking like well my eyes aren't made out of like TV stuff like it's made out of then be a ball lash Sally Yeah I guess but yeah I think it's crazy that all this nuts shit has gone on a sequence of unfortunate events has happened at this particular body of water and still year over year 10 million people at least visit late linear yearly And like they just they ain't they ain't never scared Like they just go there So um big ups to y'all uh for being reckless I guess and rest in peace to anyone who lost a life a limb a hand there right All right Y'all uh that was episode 16 right That was episode 16 of quiet as it's kept the podcast Hopefully you enjoyed this episode We definitely do something different We would like to hear your feedback Did you like this format or did you hate it We want to know if you hated it Just like dos but don't put it all loud on the post Cause No but Y'all typically go up for our joint wins in the past

D'Janai:

right. Yeah. Hopefully this is along the same vein. We did try something different. Um, hopefully y'all were thoroughly entertained. Maybe you learned a little something, a little history. Um, and if you like it, then we'll, we'll do more of these. Uh, because sometimes we need a break. I just wanna let everybody know. Um, if you think that, do you want a podcast is easy, you thought wrong again. That's another SpongeBob breakfast.

Kristen:

We do, um, yes. SpongeBob, please look, you imagine us. I would, I mean, that's, I would literally shit my pants. I shit, my pants. okay. See, that's another SpongeBob reference. I can't stop anyways. Um, yeah, guys, thanks for listening. Once again. Uh, if you'd like to follow us on Instagram, we are at quiet as it's kept podcasts on Twitter.

D'Janai:

We're at quake the pod. We will be back next week. Hopefully I don't know, um, to do another episode the next time we do have an episode, it will be me. Um, I have a very interesting story for you guys, uh, in the works. Uh, until then everybody be safe. Uh, stay masked up. Like we said, um, also right now, I don't know if everyone knows there's a water crisis going on in Jackson, Mississippi. I didn't know about this. And so Twitter of course, because that's my news, but if y'all haven't heard about it, the city of Jackson has been without water for two, maybe three weeks now. it's really, really awful. Like there's just, there's no running water.

Kristen:

the city of Jackson is 80, I think 82 or 84% black. So, um, yeah Mississippi Mississippi is one of the has the highest black population in this country And so it's, you know, I don't, I don't find it to be a coincidence that, uh, this particular population has been with that water for this long. I would think that this will be national news. Yeah. Like, I mean, for the last, as soon as it happened, but that's how you, this, if it was a primarily white city, it'd be fixed already. That's all I gotta say.

D'Janai:

Like it's mostly black, but there was one area that is predominantly white in Jackson and they have water. They've been left. Unscaved completely, they're not being affected by this at all It is insanity.

Kristen:

And I can't believe it's been three weeks. I'm just hearing about it today. I'm on Twitter every day. I have, Oh, Apple news as quick to tell me Gary Busey died, but you're not gonna tell me about some shit that's affecting my community. Is he dead or alive? I don't I don't know but Me neither.

D'Janai:

All right, John, that wraps up this week's episode of quiet as this week's episode. Oh, quiet. As it's kept, Chris doesn't know who anyone is. Um, we will be back as soon as we're back. Um, we love y'all stay safe, uh, prayers up for y'all prayers down for murderers. We love you. Take care. See you next time.
